ALAMA FOUNDATION’S RESPONSIVE MISSION

Alama Foundation, once dedicated to supporting those afflicted with Alzheimer's, has returned to its founder’s roots, and shifted its focus to helping children in Ukraine.
This site is dedicated to collecting donations, 100% of which will go directly towards the children’s needs. By partnering with Divo Ukraine, a non-profit based in Kyiv, we can efficiently supply resources directly to the people in need.
Alama Foundation does not take any administration or operating fees from the money that you gift. Your funds will go directly towards helping children affected by the war who need financial support to fulfill basic survival needs, escape from the war in Ukraine, and treat their medical conditions.
The resilient children you will read about on this page already faced numerous challenges as they had lost their parents before the war and lived in foster families throughout Ukraine. After the war broke out, they experienced even more hardship as many of them lost access to essential medication and necessary operations.
On behalf of the children below, thank you for anything you can do to help.

About the Children

These children need your help today! Become one of those who will save their lives.
Borodyanka, Ukraine
Katya
12 years old

In evacuating Borodyanka, a small town near Kyiv, Katya and her foster family came under fire. Unfortunately, she fell and severely injured her leg. Upon examination, the doctor found that she had torn her meniscus, and she would need surgery to receive a meniscus implant. As are many refugees, Katya is living in the hospital today, as she waits for this vital surgery. The doctors have graciously volunteered to perform the surgery for free, but they need to purchase the implant, a costly device.

Our goal is to raise $1100 for Katya.

The Kucheryavyy family, who has three children
Town of Irpin
The Kucheryavyy Family
Bogdan 6 years, Vladimir 5 years, Olga 14 years

Thanks to the volunteers and the Ukraine armed forces, the Kucheryavyy family-- three children and their legal guardian, Irina-- was evacuated from Irpin city, where there was heavy shelling. Irina and the children needed financial assistance, so the government, left with little option, sent them to live in an abandoned house with no heat or basic amenities. Because it is cold and damp in the house, the children often get sick. Your contribution will go to medicine and food for the family.

We are hoping to raise $1100

Julia, the orphan
Town: Borodyanka
Julia
AGE 14

Julia has juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA) where the body may attack its own organs. In her case, Julia's eyes have been particularly vulnerable. She needed expensive Humira drugs to keep the JRA at bay. But, alas, because of the war, supplies ceased to be shipped to Ukraine. We have managed to purchase medicine for four months on the black market, and this medicine saved Julia's eyes as there could have been substantial regression. But her condition is permanent, and soon this medicine will run out.

Our aim is to collect $2,300 for Julia for a continued supply of medicine.

Artem Rimchuk
AGE 18 more media
Artem lives in the Kyiv Regional Rehabilitation Center, part of an orphanage. After falling from the metro bridge, which connects the left and right banks of Kyiv, he damaged his spine in the lower pelvic area.. Miraculously, he survived and swam to the shore independently, but he sustained severe injuries, and he underwent surgery to connect the damaged vertebrae. We quickly raised funds to buy an expensive implant, and the surgery was successful. Today Artem can walk.

Sophia
AGE 16 more media
Sixteen-year-old Sophia from the Chernihiv region has lived in Okhmatdet for two years. She has a complex genetic disease, which caused her kidneys to fail. From age 14 to, she needed regular hemodialysis and many other medications that supported her overall health. The procedure was performed three times a week, lasting for four hours. All this time, Sophia was in the hospital of the intensive and efferent therapy department for chronic intoxication, waiting for a life-saving kidney transplant. Sophia's time came, and she received the kidney transplant. The surgery was successful.
We have been buying medicine for her and other children in her hospital unit/ the children's department for more than a year. We have bought time for these children as they wait for their new kidneys.

Amosov Institute
Heart surgery for infants and children more media
This institute specializes in heart pathologies. The children that received our donations all had artery defects, called "open ductus arteriosus," and needed heart surgery to close the ductus arteriosus with an implant. These implants are quoted from $1,000 to $5,000 each. With your donations, we managed to buy 6 implants and give each child a chance for a new, healthy life.
